Children and Families

Occupational Therapy
A pediatric occupational therapist (OT) assists infants and children in achieving the greatest possible age-appropriate self-help, fine motor and play skills. An OT may provide activities for children to address sensory issues, promote age-appropriate feeding and self-care skills and facilitate the development of fine motor skill and play behaviors. The OT will provide fun, adaptive activities for the parent to incorporate into the child's daily routine. Click here for more information on occupational therapy.

Physical Therapy
A pediatric physical therapist (PT) assesses children in areas of gross motor skills such as sitting, standing and walking. The PT provides "hands-on" therapy to children as well as exercise activities for parents to incorporate into the child's daily life. A PT will also assist with obtaining special equipment such as walkers, standers and wheelchairs. The PT will help parents successfully integrate therapeutic activities and equipment into their child’s day of play. Click here for more information on physical therapy.

Speech Therapy
A pediatric speech/language pathologist (SLP) aids in the development of communication modes which are best suited for each child. Usually, this is through spoken language, but the SLP also has skills with alternative communication modes such as gestures (sign language), communication books and electronic communication aids. Speech/language pathologists assist children to understand speech, vocabulary and grammar; to use social language skills; and to produce quality sound and flowing speech. Click here for more information on speech therapy.
